Report from Jelly Church 2022

Report from Jelly Church 2022 512 384 Sutterton Parish Church

Well here we are – it’s the second Sunday of a brand new year  – welcome to Jelly Church 2022.

Our first Jelly Church of 2022 was well supported with 20 or more children sitting down to tea, consisting of pizza, sausages, crisps, cake and, of course, JELLY.

Father Charlie, parents and the Jelly Church Crew were raring to go! Out came the acrylic paints, some pebbles and some flower pots and the children set to work decorating these to their own design. For some it turned out to be a messy adventure with as much paint on themselves as on the pebbles and pots but at the end we had a good selection of well painted stones and flower pots. Father Charlie helped the children with their painting.

Parents too had a good time as they caught up with friends old and new so overall everyone had a good time.

As you are aware St Mary’s is noted for its annual Flower Festival which runs for 10 days over April/May.  Unfortunately we have been unable to run this for the last two years due to Covid restrictions. However this year, fingers crossed, we shall be back with a bang from 23 April [St George’s Day] to 2 May [ Early May Bank Holiday] with plenty of floral displays, refreshments, plants and hanging baskets for sale, the cake stall, a tombola and a selection of other stalls all within the Church.

The theme for this year’s Flower festival is ‘LONDON’. Jelly Church will be both sponsoring and decorating a display based on the London Wheel [ the ‘Eye’] and we plan to incorporate some of the children’s work into our display.

Entry to the Flower Festival is FREE but bring plenty of money to spend as this is the Church’s major money raising event of the year!

Our next Jelly Church will be on Sunday 13th February when we will be turning coconut shells into bird feeders.

See you all there at 3.30pm.

The Jelly Church Crew.
