MARY’s CHURCH – SUTTERTON
JELLY CHURCH – DECEMBER 2024
8th December
Decembers Jelly Church was PARTY TIME + CRAFT + A visit from FATHER CHRISTMAS
Over 20 Children of various ages, turned up together with their parents, to join in this month’s activities.
Unusually we started with our craft, which this month was to design and make a Christmas Table Decoration with foliage and carnations which were provided by Janice, one of our Jelly Church Crew members. Janice also provided the base dishes containing some oasis and additionally ribbon bows and tinsel to help with the decoration of the finished articles.
Janice also did some demonstration decorations to give the children some idea as to what they could achieve. No problems on that score, everyone got stuck in and there were some amazing results.
The finished table decorations were then put to one side, to be taken home after the rest of the afternoon’s activities.
Next on the agenda was the party tea. The tables were laid with party plates and mugs representing Rudolph, Father Christmas’s red nosed reindeer, Father Christmas napkins, and a cracker for each child,
There were three types of sandwiches available, Ham cut into fingers, Egg cut into triangles and Cheese cut into squares. There were also sausages, sausage rolls, crisps and some of Eileen’s lovely cakes.
After tea we played pass the rather large parcel. The children sat in a circle and the parcel was passed from one player to the next whilst music was playing. When the music stopped the child holding the parcel unwrapped the outer layer and a bag of sweets fell out, and then the music resumed and the parcel re – commenced its journey round the circle and the game continued wrapping by wrapping. By the time the parcel was fully unwrapped every child had a bag of sweets. The final gift was a bag of Chocolate coins and the boy who won gave them, to his younger sister who had been too shy to join in.
Father Christmas then arrived to collect the children’s Christmas presents wish lists. He thanked them and gave each child a pack of chocolates plus a box of colouring pencils.
Father Mark arrived and finished the afternoon with a prayer.
The Jelly Church Crew ( Chris, Eileen, Janice, June and Mary) wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and we look forward to seeing you all on Sunday the 12TH January 2025 at 3.30pm for our first meeting of the New Year.
