Jelly Church – 14th July

Jelly Church – 14th July

Jelly Church – 14th July 800 600 Sutterton Parish Church

Sunday the 14th July was the annual Jelly Church Barbeque. The weather stayed fine for us and more importantly warm and dry, thus making it possible to play outside.

20 Children turned up plus their parents and a number of games were set up in the church grounds for our Jelly Church Children to play, these games included:

  • Badminton type game with Bat & Shuttlecock
  • Bubble Blowing
  • Kicking balls into a small goal
  • Throwing Hoops over cones and sticks
  • Tossing Bean Bags onto a table and scoring points if they went into pre-cut holes
  • Knocking down Tin Towers by throwing Bean Bags at them

As well as the games there was of course food and children had first choice of either a burger in a bun or a Hot Dog (sausage) in a roll, some had both. Parents were also given burgers and hot dogs. As a special treat everyone had a Chocolate covered ice cream on a stick to go with their jelly which proved to be very popular. Lastly there were lovely iced fairy cakes together with a drink

After eating everyone was keen to get outside again and resume playing the games. Father Mark organised an egg and spoon race and Jenny, one of our parents, brought along some skin transfers from which the children selected the transfer they wanted and she duly applied. Even Father Mark elected to have a transfer.

There were also some 30 odd balloons on strings for the children to play with and take home.

Prior to going home Father Mark gathered the children together and closed our afternoon with a short prayer.

A lovely afternoon was had by all.

Due to School Holidays where lots of the children will be going away on a family holiday there will be NO JELLY CHURCH IN AUGUST, this gives the Jelly Church Crew a chance to recharge their batteries before we all meet again on the 8TH  SEPTEMBER where we shall enjoy our normal JELLY CHURCH tea and our craft for the month will be to decorate bird boxes which we can hang in our gardens.

The Jelly Church Crew look forward to seeing  you all on the 8th September at 3.30pm.
